How to Request Instance

Learn how to request and access a cloud instance.

Caution

Every Reservation has an expiration. Ensure you back up and save all instance data before the expiration.

Prerequisites

  • You must have registered with this service and signed in to the account.

View Hardware Catalog

  1. Visit the Intel® Cloud Services console home page.
  2. Click the Hardware Catalog from Overview or from left menu.
  3. In the Hardware Catalog tab, select an instance from the options.

Request a Cloud Instance

Tip

For all Linux Operating Systems, Jupyterlab* is launched via Connect. For all Windows* operating systems, remote desktop (RDP) is launched.

  1. Use the form to Request a Cloud Instance.

  2. Follow the onscreen instructions and fill out all required fields (instance name and intended use).

    Note

    Required fields show an asterisk ‘*’ character.

  3. Select the Instance type.

    Note

    Depending on which Instance type you choose, Windows* OS or Linux* OS launches in your browser.

  4. Add the secondary owner email address (optional).

    1. The secondary owners can access the instance and has the same capabilities as the requestor (instance owner).

    2. Secondary owner email address must have an Intel® Cloud Services account and must have the same email domain as the requestor.

    3. Upon request approval, the secondary owner will receive an email notification.

    4. The instance owner can remove or change the secondary owner after the instance is created.

  5. Add additional users’ email addresses (optional).

    1. Additional users can only access the instance and do not have instance edit capabilities as instance owners.

    2. Addditional users’ emails must be registered with Intel® Cloud Services and must have the same email domain as the requestor.

    3. Upon approval of the request, the additional users will receive an email notification.

    4. Cloud instances support 18 additional users maximum. Enter their emails sepparated by commas in the field.

    5. The instance owners can remove or change the additional users after the instance is created.

  6. Under Request Information, select your preferences for Use case and Duration.

  7. For Deployment details, type in a description (required).

  8. SSH Public Keys (optional).

    1. Use this option, if you want SSH access to your instance.

    2. If no SSH key is added to the request, you can still access the instance via the One-Click method.

    3. Up to 20 SSH public keys can be added to an instance.

    4. The instance owners can remove or change the public keys after the instance is created.

  9. Termination Protection (optional).

    1. When selected, the instance will not be terminated until the protection is disabled from the edit instance screen.

    2. This option is useful to prevent accidental termination of the instance.

  10. Click Request Instance button.

    Note

    Upon successful completion of the request, you are shown Cloud Instances.

Await Request Notification

After requesting an instance, you’ll receive an email in 2-3 business days with request status.

Important

The email response indicates the request status: approved, rejected, or waitlisted.
If your request is pre-approved, your instance will be available immediately.
  1. If your request is approved, log into your account.

  2. From the left side menu, navigate to Instances.

  3. View the table in the Instances tab.

  4. Click on your approved instance.

  5. Continue.
